Bio & Accomplishments

My name is Timothy Gikas and I consult with small businesses on business technology, digital marketing, quality improvement, and web cloud-based projects.  I also contribute business expertise management mentoring to several web-based and brick and mortar businesses.

I have accumulated over 30 years experience in entrepreneurial, senior leadership and mangement roles which include business owner, international engineering project management, project management office (PMO), software development and manufacturing quality/general manager.

When people ask about my work life I usually remember back to working in my family’s restaurant seeing a strong work ethic first hand.

My first restaurant job was at six years old peeling onions but was soon promoted to also mopping the floors and then many years of on-the-job cooking lessons. I have never lost my love of cooking learned from my Greek restaurant heritage.

My first private business was in oilfield construction. In 1981 I purchased my first IBC PC, a copy of Lotus 123, and began teaching myself to write software and build simple peer to peer networks.  It was not long before other businesses saw what I was doing with computing and began to ask me to do the same for them.

My first tech jobs were building custom bookkeeping and database applications for local businesses.  A few years later I received a degree from West Texas A&M University (Computer Science) after leaveraging my earlier college time studing chemistry/physics at Texas Tech University.

In 1986 I began working with an engineering & construction firm, Fluor Daniel, as a construction technology expert.

A few years later I was an engineering project manager and was able to serve on several international E&C projects in Europe and the Mid-East.  Along the way I earned a Project Management Professional PMP certification (PMP)

I became aware of the World Wide Web in 1993 and by 1998 had transitioned my career to IT Project Management Office (PMO) with a web applications development company in Chicago then shortly thereafter as Sr. Director of the enterprise IT Project Management Office (PMO) with a national travel services company in San Francisco.

In 2003 I left the corporate world to return to a small business environment and landed in Fredericksburg Texas. I purchased a Bed & Breakfast and took a position with a small precision machine components manufacturing business working in various management positions.  I also began a second business of developing web sites for small businesses, focusing on web advertising in the hospitality industry.  I have also opened several online business.

During my career I have earned Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Black Belt Quality Professional (SSBB), LEAN Manufacturing (LEAN) and Internal Auditors (CIA) certificates. I also held an ATF Class 10 Firearms Manufacturing License.

I am a member of the Fredericksburg Rotary Club since 2007 where I currently serve as Club Community Service Chair and as District 5840 Social Media Chair.  I am also a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.  I donate services and web/cloud expertise to various local non-profit organizations such as Frederickburg Flyfishers and have served on the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce Board.

My passion is problem solving.   I have the personality to lead people into successful change which can grow and enrich your company.
